Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged the government to prioritise attracting foreign investment in Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing technology over entanglement in political disputes. Speaking at the PKR-led People's Justice Party (PH) Grand Rally "Justice for the People of Johor" in Muar on June 15, Anwar emphasised that technological advancement must guide the nation's future direction.
The Prime Minister highlighted that his recent visit to Japan included exploring opportunities to establish AI and data centre investments within Malaysia. These initiatives, he stressed, would position the country as a globally competitive economy and secure prosperity for the younger generation. Anwar questioned the value of perpetual political conflict, pointing out the missed opportunities when leaders focus solely on divisive issues.
"For our children, their future lies in AI and quantum. So we must work toward that. If politics is just about fighting day in and day out over Chinese, Malay, Indian, temples, and mosques, just endless bickering, when are we going to take care of this country?" Anwar said during his address. The event was also attended by PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Johor PH Chairman Aminolhuda Hassan.
Calling for national unity across all communities, Anwar appealed to Malaysians of all backgrounds to collaborate in nation-building. He noted that Malaysia's growing international reputation has already attracted investor interest without requiring active promotion. "Rise up Malaysians - Malay, Chinese, Indian - work together, build this nation, elevate this country into a great nation, because we can do it," he declared.
As both PKR President and PH Chairman, Anwar cautioned political leaders against exploiting communal tensions for electoral gain. He urged parties to adopt responsible governance focused on addressing genuine public concerns rather than stoking divisive sentiments. The Prime Minister's remarks underscore his administration's commitment to shifting Malaysia's political discourse toward pragmatic development objectives.
