Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has urged MADANI Communities nationwide to shoulder the burden of communicating accurate, verified and dependable government information to citizens, stressing that this task should not rest entirely with official bodies like the Information Department (JAPEN) and Community Communications Department (J-KOM).
Fahmi highlighted several policy achievements warranting wider public awareness, including food security measures such as maintaining adequate rice reserves during major celebrations through initiatives by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. He also pointed to the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme System (eCOSS), administered by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, which has made subsidised cooking oil readily accessible to consumers after previous shortages.
Addressing attendees at the Jiwa MADANI programme in Kota Bharu, Fahmi described these accomplishments as part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's agenda that community leaders should actively promote at grassroots level. On the same occasion, he handed over appointment letters to Kelantan MADANI Community leaders representing the 2026-2027 term.
The Communications Ministry intends to conduct periodic briefing sessions to equip community leaders with knowledge of current matters and government schemes requiring public outreach. Furthermore, JAPEN will be assigned to evaluate MADANI Communities' effectiveness in information distribution within their localities.
Fahmi cautioned that underperforming MADANI Communities would face scrutiny, warning that replacements would be implemented where necessary. "We will ask JAPEN to take prompt action if any MADANI Community is found to be inactive. If that happens, we will make the necessary changes, including replacing those who are not performing," he stated.
